Quick When real property, and sometimes personal property, is transferred (even if by Quit Claim Deed for no consideration) a Property Transfer Affidavit (Form 2766) must be filed with the assessor of the municipality in which the property is located. The Property Transfer Affidavit must be filed within 45 days of the transfer. If the Property Transfer Affidavit is not filed within 45 days of transfer, the new owner could incur fines up to $200.
